Cook Named to Paul Hornung Award Watch List

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo running back Ron Cook, Jr. was named to the Paul Hornung Award Watch List on Thursday, presented annually to the most versatile player in major college football. It marks the second straight season he has been named to the list. He is one of 53 players on the watch list, including one of three from the Mid-American Conference.

Cook is a two-time All-MAC selection as a kick returner. Last season, he rushed for 600 yards and four touchdowns and added 16 receptions for 207 yards. He also led the Bulls with 19 kick returns, averaging 21.58 yards per return.

Cook was named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll after his performance in UB's win over Toledo last season. He rushed for a season-high 118 yards and the game-winning touchdown and added three catches for 40 yards against the Rockets.

Now in its 14th season, the Paul Hornung Award is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football by the Louisville Sports Commission in memory of the late football legend and Louisville native Paul Hornung. The winner and his family will be honored at the annual Paul Hornung Award dinner in Louisville, Ky., in March 2024.
