BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo men's tennis head coach Lee Nickell announced the addition of Aleksandr Kalinin to the Bulls' roster for the spring season. Kalinin comes to Buffalo from Minsk, Belarus. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
Kalinin reached as high as 169 in the ITF World Junior rankings and was a semifinalist in the Boys 16's singles and doubles at the prestigious Eddie Herr tournament in Bradenton, Florida. He also was a finalist in the grade 2 event. He carries an ATP ranking of 1717 in singles and 1550 in doubles and currently has an ITF men's ranking of 836 in singles and 832 in doubles.
"We are so excited to welcome Aleksandr to the University at Buffalo," said Nickell. "We have gotten to know Aleksandr very well throughout the recruiting process and know that he will be a massive addition to our roster. Not only is his tennis level exceptional, but he is also a young man with tremendous character who will be a great student-athlete for the Bulls! We cannot wait to see him play for us this upcoming season."
Buffalo returns to action Friday, February 10 as they take on Cleveland State in their spring home opener at the Miller Tennis Center at 7:00pm.
