Venneri Named FWAA Freshman All-American

DALLAS – University at Buffalo punter Anthony Venneri has been named to the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Freshman All-America Team, the organization announced on Thursday. He is the first UB player to be named an FWAA Freshman All-American since its inception in 2001.
Venneri, who walked on to the team prior to the 2022 campaign, started the final 10 games of the year for the Bulls. His 43.0 yards per punt average was a single-season school record and was tied for second in the Mid-American Conference. He had 12 punts of 50 or more yards and four punts of 60 or more yards. He had 10 punts downed inside the 20-yard line.

Venneri and the Bulls finished the 2022 season with a record of 7-6 and were victorious over Georgia Southern in the Camellia Bowl.
