
Bulls in Second Place After Day One of MAC Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio β The University at Buffalo women's swimming and diving team (5-0, 4-0 MAC) are in second place after day one of the Mid-American Conference Championships. The first evening of the MAC Championships only had two events: the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays. The Bulls earned a total of 68 points of a possible 80.

The Bulls began their title defense with a silver medal finish in the 200 medley relay. The squad of Mia Naccarella, Katie Pollock, Jillian Lawton, and Toni Naccarella may have finished second, but they are now sitting atop the program record in the event. Finishing in 1:37.58, they set the new record by just .24-seconds. The Akron Zips edged out the Bulls by .30-seconds as the UB took 34 points.

After a break, the Bulls went on to claim the silver medal in the 800 freestyle relay. Sawyer Bosley, M. Naccarella, T. Naccarella, and Marij van der Mast finished in 7:12.75.

Day two of competition will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday morning. The prelims that will be held to start the day are the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, and 50 freestyle. The 1-meter diving prelims will start at 3 p.m. The finals will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
