Bulls Finish in Second Place at Zippy Invite

AKRON, Ohio - The University at Buffalo women's swimming and diving team (0-1, 0-1 MAC) finished in second place at the conclusion of the four-day Zippy Invite earning 1,647 points. Only Akron finished ahead of the Bulls as the Zips earned 1,835 points.
The finals began with the 1650 freestyle, where Ava Cunningham claimed eighth place in 17:24.12.
Three Bulls qualified for the 200 backstroke finals, with Mia Naccarella finishing fourth in 1:58.67 and Abbey Malmstrom finishing fifth in 1:59.79. Maddy McDonough finished eighth in 2:04.30.
Toni Naccarella won the 100 freestyle in 48.94-seconds, with Sawyer Bosley finishing 10th in 50.96-seconds.
In the 200 breaststroke, Taeghen Brezovski finished in eighth place in 2:17.99. Katie Pollock claimed 11th in 2:19.05 and Kasey Keaney finished 13th in 2:19.55.
Clarice Fisher (2:00.49), Kaley Ream (2:00.88), and Amanda Neeb (2:01.92) finished fifth, sixth, and seventh in the 200 butterfly. Nicole Aguilar finished ninth in 2:01.61.
To close out the invite, the Bulls claimed second in the 400 freestyle relay, with the team of Mia Naccarella, Bosley, Ellie Duley, and Toni Naccarella finishing in a time of 3:20.80.

FINAL STANDINGS
The Bulls will travel to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. for their winter training trip from Jan. 5 through Jan. 11. The team is back in competition on Friday, Jan. 13 as they host the UB Diving Invite and travel to take on Duquesne (2-1, 0-0 A-10) at 5 p.m.
