
Hoose Named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo wrestler Giuseppe Hoose was named the Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Hoose won the 184- pound title at the Black Knight Invite on Sunday. The redshirt-senior went 3-0 with a 7-2 decision over Army's Cole Karpinski in the quarterfinals, a 3-1 decision over Army's Sahm Abdulrazzaq in the semifinals and an 8-4 decision over Hofstra's Jacob Ferreira in the finals. On Friday, Hoose went 1-1 at the ArmBar at the Armory. He earned a 4-3 decision over Illinois' Dylan Connell in the opener before falling to #8 Abe Assad of Iowa.???
The Bulls' redshirt-senior is an environmental engineering major with a 3.85 grade point average.
Hoose has had a strong start to the season. He is 8-2 overall, 5-2 in duals and is currently ranked 25th in the latest InterMat national rankings.
The Scholar Athlete of the Week Award is presented to a MAC male and/or female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. An institution can nominate up to one male and one female student-athlete per week in any of that current season's sports. The winners are selected by a representative of the MAC's Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs).
Buffalo is back in action on Sunday when it hosts Binghamton at 7 pm in Alumni Arena.
