Bulls Face Another Tough Test at the ArmBar at the Armory on Friday

BUFFALO, NY – It will be another tough test for the University at Buffalo wrestling team on Friday as they will face two nationally-ranked opponents at the ArmBar at the Armory in Albany, NY. The Bulls will take on 25^th-ranked Illinois at 6:30 pm followed by #2 Iowa at 8:30 pm.

It's the third straight event the Bulls will be facing a ranked opponent. Last Saturday, UB dropped a 28-9 contest to 20^th-ranked Oklahoma. The dual was highlighted by Eli Sherren who, at 197, pinned Keegan Moore who was ranked 17^th in the nation.

Buffalo was two wrestlers in the national rankings, let by Jay Nivison who is ranked 28^th at 174 lbs. Giuseppe Hoose entered the rankings this week, ranked 32^nd at 184 lbs.

This will be the first meeting between the Bulls and Illinois. The Fighting Illini have five wrestlers in the national rankings. Lucas Byrd is 6^th at 133, Edmond Ruth is 10^th at 174, Zac Braunagel is 14^th at 197, Danny Braunagel is 22^nd at 165 and Justin Cardani is 23^rd at 125.

Iowa has eight wrestlers in the national rankings. Spencer Lee is the top-ranked 125 pounder, Jacob Warner is 2^nd at 197, Real Woods is 2^nd at 141, Tony Cassioppi is 4^th at 285, Max Murin is 7^th at 149, Abe Assad is 8^th at 184, Brody Teske is 12^th at 133 and Patrick Kennedy is 13^th at 165.

Iowa has won the previous three meetings between the programs, including the last dual in 2017.
