Bulls Fall at Central Michigan, 31-27

MOUNT PLEASANT, MI – The University at Buffalo football team lost to Central Michigan, 31-27, at Kelly/Shorts Stadium on Wednesday night. It was the second straight loss for the Bulls who saw their good first half spoiled by a Chippewa comeback.
It was all Buffalo early on as the Bulls built a 24-7 halftime lead. UB controlled the line of scrimmage and got three rushing touchdowns in the first half. The first was a short run by Mike Washington, followed by a 25-yard run by Ron Cook, Jr. and a 30-yard run by Al-Jay Henderson.
Alex McNulty tacked on a 42-yard field goal with just 20 seconds left in the first half.
The second half turned when quarterback Bert Emmanuel, Jr. was inserted in the lineup for Central Michigan. The CMU signal-caller rushed for 293 yards in the game, 274 coming in the second half alone. His second rushing touchdown of the game tied the game at 27-27 late in the third quarter.
McNulty drilled a 54-yard field goal with 9:42 left in the fourth quarter to give the Bulls the lead, 27-24. It was McNulty's second field goal of the game and 18th of the season, setting a school record for single-season made field goals.
Unfortunately for the Bulls, Central Michigan responded with a touchdown with 7:29 remaining to take the lead for good.
The Bulls rushed for 240 yards in the game, led by Cook's 100. His second 100-yard game in the last three games. Henderson added 72 yards on the ground.
Cole Snyder threw for 191 yards. Justin Marshall was the Bulls' leading receiver with four catches for 45 yards. Quian Williams, Marlyn Johnson and Trevor Borland each added three receptions.
Defensively, Buffalo was led by Shaun Dolac who had 13 tackles, a tackle for loss and a forced fumble. James Patterson added nine stops.
UB will be back in action on Nov. 19 when it hosts Akron at UB Stadium.
