
Koonce Selected in the Third Round by the Las Vegas Raiders

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo defensive end Malcolm Koonce was selected 79th overall in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday night.
Koonce is the second highest drafted UB football player in the modern era of the NFL Draft. Only Khalil Mack, taken fifth overall in 2014, also by the Raiders, was picked sooner. Koonce is the 14th UB football player picked in the draft and first since 2017.
Koonce was a first-team All-MAC selection each of the last two seasons. He led the MAC in sacks in 2019 with nine and ranked second in 2020 with five. The Peekskill, NY native finished his career with 100 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss and 18 sacks. He was the Defensive MVP of the 2019 Bahamas Bowl.
