MUNCIE, IN – The University at Buffalo football team dropped their season finale to Ball State, 20-3, at Schuemann Stadium on Tuesday night.
Ball State capitalized on an interception on Buffalo's opening drive and a blocked punt deep in UB territory on its next possession to take a 14-0 lead and never looked back.
Alex McNulty got the Bulls on the board in the second quarter with a 38-yard field goal to cut the Ball State lead to 14-3.
Unfortunately, the Bulls struggled to get the offense going. Matt Myers, making his second start of the season at quarterback, couldn't seem to get into a rhythm. He passed for 188 yards and rushed for a game-high 78 yards.
Dylan McDuffie finished with 67 yards on the ground to become the 10th player in program history to rush for 1,000 yards in a season. He finished the year with 1,049 yards – the 10th most in school history for a single season.
The defense played well and settled in after being put in precarious situations early. The Bulls held the Cardinals to only 230 yards of total offense, including just 54 yards on the ground.
James Patterson and Shaun Dolac led the Bulls with 10 tackles each. Daymond Williams had a career-high nine tackles, including two tackles for loss and a sack. Aapri Washington had a career-best three pass breakups in the game.
Bernard Porter had a career-best 4 catches for 53 yards in the game. The redshirt-sophomore had seven career catches heading into the game. Ron Cook had four catches for 56 yards.
The Bulls finished the season with a 4-8 overall record and 2-6 mark in the MAC.
