Beetcher and Allen Named Athletes Of The Week

Junior Brittney Beetcher added some hardware to her collection as she earned four top-two finishes at the Mid-American Conference Swimming & Diving Championships. Beetcher and her teammates finished in second place in the 800 freestyle relay with a program's top-10 time of 7:15.38. She would also claim silver in the 500 and 1650 freestyle events. The junior swimmer would beat her own top-10 time in the 400 IM to claim gold with a time of 4:14.40. This would also mark the second season in a row where Beetcher earned First Team All-MAC honors. |

Sophomore Shevaughn Allen leaped to a new personal-best distance of 7.41 meters in the long jump where he earned the silver medal at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. This distance moves him to fourth in UB's all-time results list. He finished just .17 meters behind the eventual champion from Eastern Michigan. Allen wasn't done as he would go on to claim gold in the triple jump with a distance of 15.82 meters and remain undefeated in the event this season. Allen earned Men's First Team All-MAC honors at this year's championships. |
