Bulls Show Talent at NCAA Diving Zones

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The 2020 NCAA Zone A Diving Championships concluded Wednesday afternoon at West Virginia University where three Bulls competed for a chance to participate at the NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga. The three-day competition featured the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform dives at the new state-of-the-art facility, the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park.
Journi Northorp had a very successful week in the diving well as she advanced to the 1-meter finals. After the preliminary round she had earned 276.40 points, good for third place. She went on to finish sixth overall out of 62 divers with a total of 533.00 points. Northorp narrowly missed NCAA Championship qualifications by 2.00 points. Victoria Franz claimed 27th place with a total of 236.50 points as Patricia Arceri earned 223.65 points for 41st place in the 1-meter dive.
On day two of competition, Franz led the way for Buffalo as she scored a 269.25 for 21st place. Right behind Franz was Arceri as she finished in 22nd place with 298.20 points, her season-best score. Northorp went on to finish in 36th place with a score of 237.75 points.
On the final day of competition, Northorp claimed a whopping score of 404.55 in the platform dive. Her score was good for 12th overall. Arceri wasn't far behind as she scored 394.75 for 14th place. Franz would score a 163.65 for 27th after the preliminary round.
This wraps up the 2019-20 Buffalo swimming and diving season. In the upcoming weeks, some Bulls will be participating in the Olympic time trials. Thank you fans for your support on this historic season.
