
Men's Soccer Battles Duquesne To Scoreless Draw On The Road

PITTSBURGH, PA – The University at Buffalo men's soccer team (8-2-1, 0-0-0 MAC) gutted out a road draw against a very strong Duquesne Dukes squad on Saturday night at Rooney Field, 0-0. The clean sheet gives UB seven on the year through 11 matches as junior Joseph Kuta now ranks third in program history for shutouts in a season.

How It Happened
- The Bulls were able to record the first shot of the match in the eighth minute as senior Daniel Cramarossa ripped a shot that was blocked away by the Dukes defense.
- In the 17th minute, Cody West was able to record a shot on frame that Joseph Kuta calmly made the save on.
- Three minutes later, Frederik Borenstein saw his shot attempt saved by a diving Joseph Kuta.
- Duquesne had a great chance in the 34th minute as Chris Alescio took a feed in the box but his chip shot went just over the cage.
- A minute later, Daniel Cramarossa forced Evan Kozlowski to make a save on a free kick from 40 yards out.
- In the 40th minute, both teams exchanged chances as Tommy Fogarty-Cameron saw his header go just wide while Jallah Acqui forced Joseph Kuta to make his third save of the half.
- Buffalo had the first chance to score in the second half as senior captain Russell Cicerone ripped a shot that was saved by the lunging Duquesne keeper.
- After the two teams exchanged yellow cards, the Dukes took a shot from inside the 18-yard box that Joseph Kuta poked out-of-bounds for a corner kick, preventing a goal.
- Duquesne had a flurry of shots in the 62nd minute of play but the Bulls defense was able to get out without any harm, keeping the match scoreless.
- Russell Cicerone had a header chance in the 83rd minute that went just over the top of the cage after a nice cross from Steven Stryker.
- Duquesne had the first dangerous chance in overtime as Jallah Acqui was open at the top of the box but his shot went wide right.
- In the 103rd minute, Russell Cicerone was dragged down just outside the box and was awarded a free kick. On the ensuing free kick, Cicerone's right-footed blast was blocked away by the Duquesne wall.
- Joseph Kuta made a nice save in the 104th minute to keep the game scoreless.

- This marks the second overtime match of the season for the Bulls. UB owns a 1-0-1 record when heading to extra time.

This prepares us exceptionally well heading into MAC play next weekend and we are excited for that portion of the season to begin."
