Bowling Green Defeats UB Baseball In Season Finale, 13-2

BOWLING GREEN, OH - The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York baseball team (16-35, 7-20 MAC) was defeated on Saturday afternoon in their season finale by the Bowling Green Falcons, 13-2.
The Falcons jumped on UB starter Mike McGee right away as they were able to one in the first, three in the third, one in the fourth and exploded for seven in the fifth inning to take the commanding 12-0 lead. McGee exited his final collegiate game allowing 12 hits and 10 earned runs while striking out three batters.
The Bulls scored their first run of the game in the seventh inning as Charlie Sobieraski reached second base after a throwing error by the third baseman. Mitchell Machi then dug in and hit a single to center field to score Sobieraski for his eighth RBI of the season.
In the eighth, Nick Sinay led off the inning with a single to right field and then he did what he does best, stole second base. The stolen base was his 39th of the season, a program record for a season, and currently ties him for the lead in the nation.
With Sinay on second, Ben Haefner grounded out to move him to third and then Bobby Sheppard singled to shortstop to score Sinay, giving Sheppard a team-best 32 RBI's on the season and Sinay a team-best 42 runs scored.
Making his final appearance in the blue and white, Brandon Bentley pitched four innings of relief while allowing three hits and three runs. Chris Kwitzer finished off his afternoon going 2-for-4 from the plate while Machi, Sheppard, Haefner and Sinay all finished with one hit apiece in the loss.
Sinay finished off his impressive junior campaign for the Bulls batting .326 while starting all 51 games in center field for UB. The speedster had 60 hits, 42 runs scored, 18 RBI's, 28 bases on balls and was hit with 22 pitches. He swipped 39 bases in 48 attempts to set a program record for most steals in a season. He also led the team in on base percentage (.470) and total bases (69).
This marked the final game for five UB seniors including Tanner Robinson, Bentley, Justin Gonzalez, McGee and Anthony Magovney.
