
Baseball Blanked By #21 Houston On Sunday

HOUSTON, TX - The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York baseball team (3-10, 0-0 MAC) lost their fourth straight game on Sunday afternoon, 5-0, in the final game of a three game set to #21 Houston. Sunday was the first time all season that the Bulls were shutout.
Transfer Bobby Sheppard led the way for the Bulls as he earned a career-best 3-for-4 outing at the plate while Chris Kwitzer continued to swing a hot bat going 2-for-4 at the dish. Ben Haefner, Mitchell Machi, Mike Abrunzo and Justin Gonzalez also chipped in with a hit each for the Bulls who were able to accumulate nine hits while not scoring a run on Sunday.
Houston picked away at the Bulls as they scored one run in five seperate innings. The Cougars were able to cross one batter across the plate in the opening inning before making the score 2-0 after three innings. The Cougars then scored a run in the sixth, seventh and eighth inning as they crusied to their 13th win of the season.
Senior Mike McGee finished off his day pitching 3.2 innings while allowing two earned runs while Tom Taplin and Logan Harasta combined to close out the game in the final two innings while only surrendering one hit.
UB returns to the diamond on Friday, March 20 as they play host to MAC foe Northern Illinois for the Bulls first conference matchup of the season.
