BUFFALO, NY - Senior outfielder Matt Pollock was named the Mid-American Conference's East Division Player of the Week Monday morning, coming on the heels of leading the team to a three-game weekend sweep of Western Michigan. It's the team's second weekly conference honor of the 2014 season and it is Pollock's first player of the week recognition.
Pollock batted a torrid .538 over the team's three-game sweep of the Broncos, recording multiple hits in every game to lead an offense that pieced together two walk-off wins in the series. On Friday, he sparked the team's comeback in an 8-7 win, driving in the tying run in the bottom of the ninth and serving as the winning run to cap off a three-hit, three-run game. He would play an even bigger role in the team's 5-4 win the next afternoon, driving in a run in the bottom of the eighth, then winning the game with a one-out RBI single to bring around the winning run from third.
He capped the weekend with arguably his best statistical game of the series, going 2-3 with two walks, a stolen base and three runs batted in. He is now batting 13-23 over the last six conference games and has a .318 average this season.
The Bulls hope to play its first true home game of the season Tuesday, hosting Niagara for a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 2 pm.
