BUFFALO, NY – Seven football players from the University at Buffalo, State University of New York were named to the All-Mid-American Conference football team on Wednesday. It ties the record for the most All-MAC selections in a single season in school history. The Bulls also had seven All-MAC players last year.
Adam Redden was named to the All-MAC team for the second straight season. A year after being named to the third team, the senior safety earned second-team honors this season. Joining Redden on the second team were Anthone Taylor, Jake Silas and Devin Campbell. Andre Davis, Ron Willoughby and Lee Skinner were named to the third team.
Redden led the Bulls with 13.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks this season to go along with 78 tackles, which ranked second on the team. He ranked third in the MAC in tackles for loss and had at least one TFL in nine of UB's 11 games this season, including a career-best 3.5 against Central Michigan.
After playing behind all-time leading rusher Branden Oliver, Taylor took advantage of his first season as a starter and had a breakout campaign. The junior running back rushed for 1,403 yards in 2014, the second highest single-season total in school history. He added 12 rushing touchdown on the year. Taylor was the first UB running back to have three 200-yard games in a season, including a career-best 237 yards at Massachusetts in the season finale.
Silas helped pave the way for Taylor and the offense. The senior left tackle started every game and helped lead the way for a UB offense that averaged an FBS-era record 32.3 points per game.
Campbell was the Bulls' top kick returner on the season. He averaged 23.3 yards per return on the season, including three returns of 42 yards or more. Only a junior, Campbell already ranks second in school history in career kick return yardage (1,541).
Davis started every game of his career for the Bulls and was the veteran of the line. The senior left guard excelled in run blocking as the Bulls averaged 178.6 rushing yards per game.
Like Taylor, Willoughby made the most of his first season as a starter. The junior wide receiver led the Bulls with 50 catches for 771 yards and nine touchdowns. His nine touchdowns were tied for second in the MAC.
Skinner led the Bulls with 96 tackles and added 6.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. The senior linebacker, who started every game over his four years, finished his career with 344 tackles – sixth-most in school history.
