MOON TOWNSHIP, PA - The main portion of the Buffalo men's soccer non-conference season came to a close Sunday afternoon, with the Bulls (1-6-3) losing to Robert Morris (4-3-2). Nicolay Netskar scored his first goal since joining the team, but RMU's Neco Brett would tally a hat trick to lead the home side to victory.
After a goal from the Colonials just over five minutes into the game, UB earned a chance in the 23rd minute after a back-pass to the keeper was called on Robert Morris. Russell Cicerone blasted the ball from ten yards out on a free kick, but it was gathered in by the goalkeeper.
Coming out of halftime, goalie Andrew Siviy earned his first collegiate minutes, and the freshman would be tested early and often. Brett aimed a shot near post, but Siviy recovered just in time to push the ball wide. Siviy would deny Brett again in the 59th minute, but the Jamaican native would put home two goals on Siviy in the second half to earn his trifecta. After a shade over 34 minutes in the net, Siviy would be replaced by fellow freshman Ryan O'Mara, who made three saves in just over 10 minutes.
Trailing 3-0 in the final minutes, the Buffalo offense would finally be able to get on the board, courtesy of Netskar. Braden Culver would find the Norwegian in the top right corner of the box, who went near post and deflected the shot in to beat a stout RMU netminder.
While two non-conference matches remain, the Bulls will now focus in on Mid-American Conference play. The race for the conference postseason tournament begins on Friday, when the team plays host to Bowling Green. Kickoff is set for 7 pm.
