MOREHEAD, KY - Buffalo's series opener against Morehead State has been rained out, pushing back the scheduled four-game series to doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday. After being swept just up the road by Kentucky last weekend, the Bulls will look to earn its first win of the season against the Eagles (4-5).
The Eagles (4-5) are coming off a midweek road loss to non-conference foe Kentucky 3-2. In its last weekend series, the team won three out of four against Jackson State. The team as a whole is batting .293 and is led by Chase Greenwell, who is batting .400 through the team's first nine games. The main offensive output has been thanks in part to the Bainer twins Eric and Luke, who have combined for three home runs and eighteen runs batted in.
The Bulls (0-3) have struggled to find consistency both at the plate and on the mound, putting up big innings against the Kentucky but going scoreless over long stretches to allow the Wildcats to come from behind and sweep all three games. Tom Murphy batted .429 (6-14) and Dan Scahill hit two home runs while batting .333 in the series. The team received strong performances from a handful of newcomers, notably Jon Mestas (HR, four RBI) and Tyler Mautner (.375 BA, RBI).
