
Platform Diving Closes Zone Championship Meet

BUFFALO, NY – The men's and women's platform competitions concluded the NCAA Zone Diving Championships at the University at Buffalo's Alumni Arena Natatorium on Sunday afternoon as eight individuals from the three separate diving disciplines qualified for the NCAA National Championships later this month.
In the men's platform competition, Virginia's Briggy Imbriglia won the competition with a 12-dive total of 708.10 points with Virginia Tech's Logan Shinholser placing second at 648.70 points. Imbriglia posted the highest scores in both the preliminary (341.95) and championship (366.15) rounds on his way to the title.
Virginia Tech's Kelli Stockton also led wire to wire to take the women's platform event. Stockton finished with a 10-dive total of 590.65 with Rutgers' Nicole Scott finishing second at 523.00. In the five-dive preliminary round, Stockton led the way with 292.15 points. She added a championship round high of 298.50 for her winning total.
Buffalo's Ava Giachino finished seventh in the women's competition. Giachino finished with a total score of 390.80. She scored 197.80 in the preliminary round and 193.00 in the championship round.
Following the meet, Zone A's national representatives were announced with four men and four women headed to the National Championships. For the men, Derrick Butts of George Mason (one-meter), Shinholser of Virginia Tech (three-meter), Ryan Hawkins of Virginia Tech (three-meter) and Imbriglia of Virginia (platform) will compete in Federal Way, WA starting March 22. Representing the women in Auburn, AL starting on March 15 are Kaylea Arnett of Virginia Tech (one-meter), Danielle Cecco of Connecticut (three-meter), Logan Kline of Virginia Tech (three-meter) and Stockton of Virginia Tech (platform).
