
Preseason Honors Continue to Roll in for Tom Murphy

BUFFALO, NY - After a record-breaking season highlighted by being honored as the Mid-American Conference's player of the year, junior catcher Tom Murphy continues to gain steam in the offseason. In its recent 2012 college baseball season preview issue, Baseball America named the West Monroe, NY native to the preseason All-American third team.
Coming into 2012 with a career totals of a .355 batting average with 14 home runs and 69 runs batted in, Murphy was the lone MAC player with the preseason honor. He was named the 30th-best junior in the country and the conference's top overall prospect. For the upcoming draft, Murphy was listed as the 68th best overall prospect in the country, making him a projected 2nd- to 3rd-round pick.
The Bulls will kick off the 2012 season in just two weeks, heading down to SEC country for a season opener against the Kentucky Wildcats. First pitch is set for Friday, Feb. 24 at 4 pm.
