BOWLING GREEN, OH - The men's soccer team closed out its nearly month-long Mid-American Conference road trip Friday night, losing 3-0 at Bowling Green (5-6-2, 2-2 MAC). The tempo on offense for both teams was a blistering one, as the two combined for 46 total shots. Senior goalie Jonathan Viscosi made 11 saves in the game for Buffalo (2-10-1, 0-3 MAC).

The save mark for Viscosi is the most in a single game by any Buffalo goalkeeper in over 15 years, with the most recent being Christian Barletta on Oct. 4, 1997. He now is tied with four other netminders for the 12th most saves in a single game in program history, and it sets a program record for most saves in Buffalo's 14-year history of MAC play. He was harrassed by the Falcons on a consistent basis, as the host school took 28 shots and put half of them on frame.

"Bowling Green had three really quality shots on goal and scored on all three, but Jon was solid for us tonight," head coach David Hesch said. "We've had a rough go on the road, playing two straight nationally ranked teams in Akron and West Virginia, and a good Bowling Green team tonight. If we want a top-four spot at the end of the season, we need to come out and get a win in these next two games at home."

Bowling Green would open the scoring at the 8:28 mark in the first half. Anthony Grant would score the first of his two goals after his initial shot was parried away by Viscosi. He would then score again the in 58th minute of play, and Ryan Comiskey would finish the scoring just under 10 full minutes later, in the 67th minute.

Buffalo's offense was plagued by missed opportunities, despite taking 18 shots on the night (the second most in any game all season). Lukas Fedler nearly tied the game up in the 46th minute, but his charging header was saved. The sophomore defender put another shot on goal in the 66th minute, but that too would be denied. Patrick Ryan was the team's top performer of the night on offense. The senior took a career-high seven shots and put two on goal. A pair of his shots were blocked down in the box, and two more would scoot just wide of the goal.

"We do well in the midfield and building from the back, but it's the final phase of putting the ball in the net that we need to get better at," Hesch added. "Pat Ryan played a great game attacking the net, he just needs to put one away and get that goal he's been working so hard to get."

The team will return home for the first time in nearly a month, and will open up the MAC home schedule next Friday against Florida Atlantic. First kick is scheduled for 2 pm.
