PITTSBURGH, PA -- The University at Buffalo men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 non-conference decision to Duquesne Sunday afternoon at Rooney Field. The Bulls are now 5-5-1 as they begin Mid-American Conference play next weekend.
After a scoreless first half, Duquesne scored both goals in the final half within a 16-minute span. Adam Clement scored in the 60th minute and Joshua Patterson added a goal in the 76th minute. Both goals were scored against UB goalkeeper Ryan Aubrey, who got the start Sunday in place of Jonathan Viscosi.
The Bulls were outshot by the Dukes (3-5-1), 12-9, with both squads taking five shots on goal. Five UB players, Risto Latti, Matthew Chereson, Lukas Fedler, Maksym Kowal and Richard Craven were credited with UB's shots on goal. Latti and Chereson led the Bulls with two of UB's nine overall shots.
Aubrey made two first half saves with the team credited for one save.
"We played well enough to win today," said interim head coach David Hesch. "We didn't enough chances on net."
The Bulls will take on their MAC schedule for the remainder of the season. UB opens league play on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Northern Illinois at 2:00 pm (ET).
