BUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo baseball team's mid-week doubleheader against regional rival St. Bonaventure will be broadcasted on Time Warner Cable Sports. The game will be shown Wednesday night at 10 pm for fans who are unable to make it to the game. While it will be the second home series of the season, it will be the first time the Bulls will play on Amherst Audubon Field for a true home game.
In the last meeting between the two teams, the Bulls swept a doubleheader at St. Bonaventure, 7-1 and 11-3. In the all-time series, UB leads 41-30 heading into the Tuesday matchup. Both teams are hoping to get back on the winning track, with the Bonnies losing nine of the past 12 games and the Bulls on a 10-game skid. Game one starters are projected to be Nick Brennen for the Bonnies and Michael Burke for the Bulls.
The doubleheader is the first of what will be seven straight home games for the road-weary Bulls. Next up will be a weekend series against Ball State. The Cardinals have a very similar record to UB, but unlike the Bulls Ball State has found most of its success in the Mid American Conference, holding a 7-22 overall record but a 5-4 conference mark. With a .238 team batting average and a 5.66 team earned run average, the Cardinals rank eleventh in the MAC in both categories.
One of the top offensive players for BSU is Cody Elliot, who has team highs with eight steals, four triples and three home runs to go with a .282 batting average. Mitch Widau has also been a catalyst for the offense, posting a .319 batting average and .422 on-base percentage. On the mound, starter Cal Bowling has been a premier pitcher in the MAC so far, holding a 2.42 ERA and a 3-2 record with three complete games already this season. Despite a poor overall ERA, the Cardinals have turned it on in conference action, twirling a 2.70 ERA over nine games.
First pitch of Friday's game is scheduled for 3 pm. Live stats will be available here.
