Rhoades, Giachino Reach Saturday Diving Finals

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Two of the University at Buffalo's three divers reached the championship rounds of their disciplines on Saturday afternoon as the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships completed its second day of action at Navy's Lejeune Hall.
Senior Kenny Rhoades finished 12th in the men's three-meter championship round. Rhoades scored 307.35 points for his six dives in the final round as one of 18 divers that advanced into the finals. Rhoades scored 309.65 points in the preliminary round to place 11th among 43 entrants. Junior Colin Patrican was also entered in the men's competition. Patrican finished with 248.50 points for 28th place and did not advance into the finals.
Freshman Ava Giachino earned a spot in the women's one-meter final on Saturday. Giachino finished 18th in the final round with a total of 204.00 points for her six-dive program. Giachino earned a spot in the final after placing 17th in the prelims with 215.25 points to make the field of 18 championship round divers.
