

NCAA Zone A Diving Championships (men)

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The University at Buffalo sent three individuals to the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships at the United States Naval Academy's Lejeune Hall as the men's one-meter and women's three-meter events were held on Friday.
In the men's one-meter competition, junior Colin Patrican reached the championship round. Patrican started the day with a six-dive preliminary total of 259.50 to place 18th in a field of 46, making the championship field by three points as the top 18 moved into the finals. Patrican ended the day 17th overall as he scored 251.95 points in the six-dive final round to finish with a total of 511.45 points. Senior Kenny Rhoades also competed in the one-meter event, scoring a preliminary round total of 232.30 to place 34th.
Freshman Ava Giachino competed in the women's three-meter competition on Friday. Giachino finished 44th among 49 divers with a six-dive total of 192.15 points in the preliminary round.
Competition continues Saturday with the men's three-meter and women's one-meter events scheduled for 1:00 pm.
