BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo's Andy Tiedt has been named to the All-Mid-American Conference Second Team for men's soccer. The league announced its all-league and specialty awards Thursday afternoon prior to the MAC Tournament starting on Friday.
Tiedt, a senior forward from Akron, NY, was the lone UB representative on the list. He leads the team with five goals and 14 points and is tied for the team lead with four assists. Tiedt scored a pair of game-winners in September victories over NJIT and Siena. His five goals and 14 points tied him for fifth best in the league in both categories. Three of his assists came in league contests, which tied him for second in the MAC in the conference-only statistical listings.
"Andy is a great leader and player," said interim head coach David Hesch. "I feel that a lot of the success that we had this year is due to Andy and his ability to adapt into a new role. In midseason, we moved him into the midfield and it has been the difference."
The Bulls (8-7-2, 3-2-1 MAC) are the third seed for the MAC Tournament. UB opens semifinal play on Friday night in Akron, OH at 8:00 pm against second seed Northern Illinois.
