Buffalo, NY—The UB football team travels to Miami University (2-5, 1-2) to take on the RedHawks in a Mid-American Conference game on Saturday at 3:30 pm. The Bulls are coming off of a 31-30 loss to Northern Illinois, a game in which quarterback Chazz Anderson accounted for 460 yards of total offense, with three passing touchdowns and another on the ground. Buffalo had a total of 572 yards of offense.
Anderson was named MAC East Division Player of the Week following Saturday's loss, after his team rallied from a 31-10 fourth quarter deficit to nearly force overtime before falling by a single point.
"Our defense played phenomenal," Anderson said. "Our offense ran 95 plays. So we had our opportunities."
In addition to Anderson's play at quarterback, running back Branden Oliver again rushed for over 100 yards, going for 112 yards on 28 attempts. Oliver is now just 147 yards shy of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards on the season.
"When you really look at what happened in that game it's pretty evident that we were not able to capitalize on critical special teams plays and then turnovers," head coach Jeff Quinn said. Buffalo had a total of five turnovers, including multiple muffed punt returns that gave Northern Illinois the ball inside their own 50.
Saturday will be the RedHawks' first of three games in a 12 day span. Miami, who has wins against Army and Kent State, has five losses at the hands of Missouri, Minnesota, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, and Toledo. The RedHawks are led by quarterback Zac Dysert, who has comparable stats to Buffalo's Anderson. Anderson has passed for 1,712 yards and eight touchdowns, while Dysert has passed for 1,836 yards and eight scores.
Saturday will be the 14th meeting between Buffalo and Miami, with Miami holding an all-time series lead of 11-2.
Saturday's game will be televised on SportsTime Ohio as well as locally on Time Warner Cable Sports. Fans can catch the game on the radio at 1230 WECK in Buffalo or 1280 WHTK/107.3 WHTK in Rochester.
