BUFFALO, NY - After setting multiple school records in a 31-30 loss to Northern Illinois Saturday afternoon, senior quarterback Chazz Anderson was named the Mid-American Conference's East Division Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Anderson accounted for 460 yards of total offense and four touchdowns as Buffalo fell just short against MAC power Northern Illinois. Anderson completed a school-record 35 passes on 53 attempts for 406 yards (the most by a Buffalo quarterback since joining the MAC) and three touchdowns. All three of his touchdown passes came in the fourth quarter as he nearly rallied the Bulls from a 31-10 deficit.
Anderson contributed 460 of the team's 572 total yards, which now stands as not just a season high, but as the most yards ever by a UB offense in the Division I-A era. There have been only five games in program history that the offense has broken the 500-yard mark, and the high-octane offense has done it twice in the past three weeks.
He added 56 yards rushing on 10 carries, including a touchdown in his career day. The rushing touchdown was his fourth of the season and set a new season record for Buffalo quarterbacks.
The offense will look to stay hot this coming Saturday as it travels to Oxford, OH for a matchup against the Miami RedHawks. Kickoff is set for 3:30 pm and fans can watch on SportsTime Ohio or locally on Time Warner Cable Sports.
