Chaz Mye Signs With Oakland Athletics

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo pitcher Chaz Mye has signed a free agent contract with the Oakland Athletics. The signing of Mye marks the fourth straight year that a UB player has signed on with a major league club. Mye will report to the Athletics' complex in Arizona at the end of the week.
Mye tied for the team lead in wins and led the Bulls in innings pitched at 78.0. He also struck out a team-high 54 batters on the season. A transfer from Lake Sumter Community College, Mye pitched two seasons for the Bulls, helping the team reach 43 wins over the last two seasons.
With Mye, the Bulls now currently have four players in the minor league system. In 2007, Mike Folli was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals and is currently playing in Springfield, its Double-A affiliate. In 2008, Steve Geltz signed a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and he is currently pitching for their advanced Single-A team, Rancho Cucamonga. Last season, Zach Anderson was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays and he is currently with the Auburn Doubledays, the Class A Short-Season team.
