Bulls Split Twinbill with Morehead State

MOREHEAD, KY - The University at Buffalo baseball team split its
doubleheader versus Morehead State at Allen Field on Saturday
afternoon, capturing a 26-17 victory in game one followed by a 17-3
loss in the nightcap.
Facing an 11-2 deficit in the opening contest, the Bulls pulled
within four with five runs in the top of the fourth. Freshman Alex Baldock and senior Jacob Rosenbeck each recorded RBI singles as
junior David Neff and senior Brad Agustin each recorded RBI doubles
to bring the score to 11-7.
The Bulls continued to trim back the Eagles' lead with seven
runs in the top of the eighth, eventually capturing a 16-12 lead.
Five of the Bulls' runs came off a two-run home run by
freshman Matt Pollock and a three-run shot by Rosenbeck down the
right field line.
In the top of the ninth, the Bulls erupted for 10 runs to secure
their lead. With the bases loaded, Buffalo extended its lead to
26-12 off a grand slam by senior Rob Lawler.
Brian Pullyblank (1-1) recorded his first career victory in one
inning of relief work, facing three batters with two ground outs
and a fly out in the eighth inning.
Agustin and senior Adam Skonieczki went 4-for-7. Agustin had an RBI
and a game-high five runs while Skonieczki recorded two RBIs and a
run. Lawler had three hits including four runs and four RBIs.
Rosenbeck had a game-high six RBIs.
In the nightcap, the Bulls fell 17-3 in seven innings of play. The
Bulls' three runs came off a pair of home runs by Lawler and
Agustin.
Lawler led the Bulls off in the top of the third with a solo shot
to cut back the Eagles' lead to 7-1.
Facing a 13-1 deficit in the top of the fifth, Agustin drilled a
two-run shot to deep center.
Agustin went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and RBIs. Lawler went
1-for-1 with his lone hit a solo shot in the third.
Starter Pierre Miville-Deschenes (0-2) recorded the Bulls'
loss in 3.0 innings of work, striking out three batters.
The Bulls will face the Eagles in the series finale on Sunday,
March 7 at Allen Field with the first pitch set for 12:00 pm.
