BUFFALO, NY - With the 2010 season coming to a close, the Buffalo Bulls will welcome in Eastern Michigan Saturday afternoon in the final home game for 18 seniors, with many leaving UB Stadium as some of the most decorated players in program history. The Bulls will look to snap its three-game losing streak against the Eagles all time in the series.
Buffalo's senior class ranks as the most successful since its move to Division I-A and the Mid-American Conference in 1999. The group earned two MAC East Division titles (2007 and 2008) and won the school's first, and only, MAC championship in 2008. Among this senior class are three former All-MAC selections (OL Peter Bittner, DB Davonte Shannon and LB Justin Winters) and the school's all-time leading scorer (kicker A.J. Principe).
Shannon, who has already etched his name in the program record book for multiple categories, is still in search of one final number-one mark: the most total tackles in team history. The Jeannette, PA native needs just 17 tackles over the final two games to match Craig Guest's record of 455. Domonic Cook, his partner in the secondary, is also sniffing out some significant marks. His six career fumble recoveries are second-most in Buffalo history and his 36 total pass break ups are just three behind Gemara Williams' school record.
Eastern Michigan enters the game with a 1-9 (1-5) record this season and it is making just its second appearance ever at UB Stadium. The Eagles are led by the ground attack of quarterback Alex Gillett and running back Dwayne Priest, who have combined to rush for 1136 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. Gillett, a dual-threat who leads the team with 671 yards rushing, also leads the team with 1530 yards passing with 13 touchdowns. Up front on the EMU defense, Javon Reese has 3.5 sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss. Linebacker Neal Howey leads the team with 77 total tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss
The game will be broadcast on Sports Time Ohio, with the radio broadcast again can be found at 1230 WECK. It will be fan appreciation day at UB Stadium, with the first 750 fans receiving a travel mug and coffee coupon courtesy of Tim Hortons. Kickoff is set for 2:00 pm.
