
Men's Soccer Falls at No. 1 Akron, 4-0

AKRON, OH – The University at Buffalo men's soccer team fell Saturday night to the top-ranked Akron Zips, 4-0, at Lee-Jackson Field. With the loss, the Bulls fall to 5-7-1 overall and 1-2-0 in the Mid-American Conference.
The Zips (11-0-1, 4-0-0) scored three first half goals to take command early. Akron opened the scoring in the 21st minute as Michael Nanchoff connected on a penalty kick. Akron added two goals by Darren Mattocks for the 3-0 halftime lead.
Mattocks scored Akron's fourth goal and his third of the night in the 63rd minute. UB then changed goalkeepers with Ryan Aubrey relieving Nick Fetterman. Fetterman made four saves while in goal for the Bulls. Aubrey stopped three Akron shots in the final 27 minutes.
Maksym Kowal and Risto Latti were credited with shots for the Bulls, both in the second half, as Akron outshot UB, 22-2 in the match.
The Bulls host Northern Illinois at UB Stadium on Friday, October 22 at 7:30 pm in their next contest.
