BUFFALO, NY- Fresh off a win at Bowling Green and a bye week, the University at Buffalo football team returns to action on Saturday afternoon at Northern Illinois. It is the third of three straight road games for the Bulls.
The Bulls are looking to improve to 2-0 in MAC play after defeated Bowling Green, 28-26, on October 2. The Bulls are looking for another dominant defensive performance after holding the Falcons to only nine yards rushing. Khalil Mack was named MAC Defensive Player of the Week after piling up a career-high nine tackles, four for loss, a sack and a forced fumble.
Head Coach Jeff Quinn was pleased with the way his team utilized the bye week and the way they have prepared for this game.
"Our energy last week was outstanding," Quinn said. "I really like the way our kids came to practice. We utilized the time to heal up our guys and to go back and reteach and go over the fundamentals of the game so that they have a better understanding of what we want to do to accomplish the goals we have set forth for our program."
Northern Illinois is 4-2 overall and sits atop the West Division with a 2-0 record. The Huskies are led by quarterback Chandler Harnish who has passed for 927 yards and eight touchdowns and has rushed for 382 yards and two scores.
"Northern Illinois is a 2-0 football team. They had a big win last week against Temple," Quinn said. "This is going to be a great opportunity for our football program to go out and play one of the better teams in the Mid-American Conference."
The game kicks off at 3:30 pm (EST) on Saturday at Huskie Stadium. Fans can catch the game on the radio at WECK 1230 AM in Buffalo or WHTK 1280 AM and 107.3 FM in Rochester.
