Bulls Preseason Favorites to Win MAC East

BUFFALO, NY The University at Buffalo football team has been selected to win the East Division in the 2009 MAC Football Preseason Poll. The poll was announced at the league's annual Football Media Preview held at Ford Field in Detroit and is determined by 26 members of the league's media contingent.
It marks the first time since joining the conference in 1999 that the Bulls have been selected as preseason favorites. Buffalo also received two votes from the media to repeat as winners of the Marathon MAC Championship Game.
Buffalo has 15 starters returning in 2009, including 2008 All-MAC selections James Starks, Naaman Roosevelt, Davonte Shannon, Mike Newton and Justin Winters.
The Bulls received 155 points, followed by Temple (144), Akron (128), Ohio (116), Bowling Green (101), Kent State (51) and Miami (33). Central Michigan was picked to win the West Division and was the overwhelming choice to win the MAC Championship.
UB opens preseason camp on Saturday, August 8th. The 2009 season kicks off on September 5th with a game at UTEP.
