BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team saw their top doubles duo ranked in the final Northeast Regional poll by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as senior Chantal Martinez Blanco and freshman Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou were ranked eighth in the final poll.
Martinez Blanco and Antoniou-Karademitrou led UB with a 20-9 doubles record, including a 15-6 mark at first doubles. They were the only pair to make the list not from either a Power 5 conference or an Ivy League university.
"We played outstanding doubles this season up and down the lineup and that was led by Chantal and Nikoleta at the top of the lineup," said head coach Kristen Maines. "It is an honor to be recognized with some of the top programs in the Northeast."
Martinez Blanco and Antoniou-Karademitrou are the first UB doubles team to be regionally ranked to end the season since the 2017 season when Tanja Stojanovska and Margarita Kotok ended the year ranked ninth.
