Bulls Fall At Rutgers, 5-2

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team again claimed the doubles points against their Power 5 opponent on Friday afternoon, but the Bulls fell to Rutgers out of the Big Ten, 5-2. The loss drops UB to 6-3 on the season.

UB began the afternoon with a pair of doubles victories, capped off by the first doubles squad of senior Chantal Martinez Blanco and freshman Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou, who shutout their opponents, 6-0.  The Scarlet Knights then won 6-3 at second doubles, but claimed the point at third doubles as junior Emel Abibula and freshman Hsin-Yuan Shih won 6-3.

In singles action, Rutgers won five of the six matches as all six of the contests were completed in straight sets. Antoniou-Karademitrou was the lone winner for Buffalo at second singles as she scored a 7-5, 6-3 victory for UB.  However, the Scarlet Knights were able to claim the rest of the contests.

The Bulls will now move on to Philadelphia where they will face Drexel on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm.
