BUFFALO, NY – Having won two straight Mid-American Conference titles, the University at Buffalo women's tennis team has another honor that they can claim, and that it is the top GPA for the fall semester of 2018 amongst all UB athletic programs.
The women's tennis team finished with a collective 3.492 GPA, as seven of the nine individuals had a 3.0 or better and six of the nine had over a 3.8. The semester was highlighted by two perfect 4.0 semesters from junior Sydney Siembida and freshman Pia Schwarz.
Despite being one of the top teams in terms of GPA each semester, the women's tennis program was also the second most improved team from the spring semester of 2018.
"While we are extremely proud of the successes we have had on the court, to see what our student-athletes have been able to do in the classroom this fall in nothing short of remarkable," said head coach Kristen Maines. "This group is extremely diligent with their studies and it is important for us as a program that we bring in great students, in addition to being great tennis players. We look forward to the spring semester and continuing this success both in the classroom and on the tennis court."
The Bulls begin their spring season on Friday, Feb. 1 against Niagara.
