BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's rowing team kicked off the 2016-17 campaign by hosting local rivals Canisius and D'Youville on Tonawanda Creek on Saturday morning. It was the first of three races the Bulls will compete in this fall to get ready for the spring season.
The Canisius A boat took the Varsity 8 race with a time 18:08. Buffalo's A boat finished with a time 18:47. The Buffalo B boat finished in 18:56.
In the Varsity 4 race, the Canisius B boat won with a time of 20:41. The Bulls' B boat finished third with a time 20:51.
"I think it was a good starting point. We needed to see where we were after training this summer," Interim head coach Kerri Brace said. "We had some beautiful weather during training and had some good mileage. Now we need to learn how to put the speed with the mileage."
