Khyreed Carter Named Director Of Women’s Basketball Operations

BUFFALO, NY – Sixth-year University at Buffalo women's basketball head coach Felisha Legette-Jack announced the hiring of Khyreed Carter as the Bulls director of basketball operations. Carter comes to Buffalo after spending the last five seasons at Michigan State working under head coach Suzy Merchant for the Spartans.

"We are excited to welcome Khyreed to our UB family," said head coach Felisha Legette-Jack. "He comes from Michigan State where he was a graduate assistant for the past two seasons. With his Power Five background, his love and passion for women's basketball, I think we hit a home run by adding him to our staff. We are building a program with extremely talented coaches and we definitely took a step forward in adding Khyreed to our women's basketball family."

Carter is replacing Hayley Schaetzle who spent the last two seasons as the Bulls director of basketball operations. Schaetzle was recently named head coach of the women's basketball program at NCAA Division III member Pitt-Greensburg.

The Baldwin, NY native spent the last two seasons as a graduate assistant coach for the Michigan State women's basketball team. His main job responsibilities for the Spartans were assisting coaches in daily basketball operations while also assisting the director of basketball operations. He also created and updated scouting reports while breaking down opponent game film. Carter also supervised the Spartans 20-member male scout team.

Prior to becoming a graduate assistant, Carter spent his first four seasons in East Lansing as a scout team member and was named captain of the scout team. He assisted the coaching staff and players with the daily preparation and was also a part of the 2014 Big Ten championship squad.

He also was able to gain valuable coaching experience over his final four years at Michigan State as he was a camp counselor and coach for the Tom Izzo men's basketball summer camps and the Suzy Merchant women's basketball summer camps.

Carter received his master's degree from Michigan State in 2017 in kinesiology and exercise science. He also earned his bachelor's degree in journalism from Michigan State in 2015.
