MUNCIE, IND. – The University at Buffalo men's and women's track and field teams completed the first day of action at the 2019 Outdoor Mid-American Conference Championships hosted by Ball St. University at the Briner Sports Complex on Thursday.
The Bulls put three student-athletes on the podium during the day, highlighted by William Hilbert's impressive second place finish in the men's 10,000 meter race, pacing himself to a silver medal with a time of 31:23.54.
Also earning a medal on the afternoon was Bulls junior Hannah Roof, who leapt over the bar in the women's pole vault event at a height of 3.72m, earning her a third place finish and the bronze medal. Roof's performance tied a personal-best height for the outdoor season.
Another notable performance was sophomore Asia Hoyte's eighth place finish in the women's hammer throw event, throwing a distance of 51.85m, a new-personal best mark.
After the first day of action, the UB women sit in eighth place with 6.5 points while the men are in sixth place with eight points. The Bulls return for day two of the MAC Championships tomorrow, with action slated to resume at 10:00 a.m. for the men's hammer throw event.
