BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo Track and Field program has received a number of academic honors from the USTFCCCA as both the men's and women's programs were honored for their academics as well as individuals Amy Shaw and Brian Crimmins.
Shaw has a cumulative GPA of 3.566 in Studio Art and Communications and Crimmins has 3.267 GPA in Pharmacology and Toxicology. During the indoor season, Shaw smashed the UB school record running 16:29.13 ranking #77 in the NCAA in the 5,000-Meter Run, while Crimmins was ranked #83 in the 800m with his time of 1:49.93.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, the student athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards. For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org. For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
As a program, the men's team finished with a 3.13 combined GPA as they were one of 122 teams honored, while the women's program was one of 220 programs honored with a combined GPA of 3.24.
In order for a team to be named All-Academic by the USTFCCCA, it must finish with a combined GPA of at least a 3.0.
