Howard, White Compete At NCAA East Preliminary Round

JACKSONVILLE, FL – The University at Buffalo track and field program began competition at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds on Thursday at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, FL.

First up for the Bulls on Thursday was Craig Howard, who cleared the opening height in the pole vault at 4.85m (15-11) to finish in the a 37th place tie.  The height matched his season best.

Senior Malayah White competed for the Bulls on the track in the 100m and she finished in 28th place, narrowly missing moving on in the competition as the top 24 advanced to Friday's quarterfinals.  White finished fifth in her heat in a time of 11.77 seconds. 

UB will be off from competition tomorrow, but will have a pair of throwers competing on Saturday.  Megan Patterson will compete in the women's shot put which begins at 3:30 pm on Saturday, while Ryan Cribbin, who won the MAC title in the men's shot put, will compete in that event on Saturday at 6:00 pm.
