Heat Sheets

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo Track and Field team heads to Toledo, OH for the 2016 Mid-American Conference Championships, which begin on Thursday.  The Bulls have a number of entrants that will look to claim individual titles and score points for the squad during the three-day meet.

The event opens on Thursday with the beginning of the decathlon and heptathlon.  Freshman Kyle Pierre will represent the Bulls in the decathlon.  Field events that will take place on Thursday include the hammer throw, javelin and women's pole vault.  The UB women have three entrants in the women's hammer, which begins at 10 am tomorrow.  The Bulls also have one entrant in the men's javelin and the women's pole vault.  The lone running events on the first day are the men's and women's 10,000m.  The Bulls have two competitors in each race.

Field events on Friday include the long jump and the shot put.  The men have three entrants in the long jump, including senior Austin Ashby, who is seeded third in the event.  The women have three more competing in the long jump paced by junior Mikayla Pearce, who is seeded fourth.  As in years past, it should be another strong showing in the shot put as junior Ryan Cribbon enters the meet seeded first with a mark of 18.82m.  Junior Megan Patterson and sophomore Joanna Hallisy will compete in the shot put on the women's side.

Friday will be a busy day on the track with trials in nearly every race.  In the 100m race, UB will have three men competing, including senior Darien Johnson, who won the 60m MAC Championship during the indoor season.  On the women's side, fellow senior Malayah White, who also won the indoor 60m title indoors, is seeded second in the 100m and she one of three Bulls competing in the race.  In the 200m, senior Camaria Long is seeded first with a time of 23.82 seconds.

The Championships conclude on Saturday with field events including the men's pole vault, the discus, high jump and triple jump.  UB has multiple entries in each event.  On the track, Saturday will showcase the finals of each event and they will also run the two relays, the 4x100m relay and the 4x400m relay.  The UB group of White, Long, Asher Beasley and Tyra Forbes is seeded third in the women's 4x100m.
