Track & Field Finds Success at Lou Onesty Invitational

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The Bulls hit many season-best and personal-best times during the Lou Onesty Invitational hosted by University of Virginia. Overall, UB won six events during Saturday's inviatational.

Austin Price won the men's long jump with a jump of 7.17m (23-06.25), while Christian Doherty earned a third-place finish with his best jump of 6.88m (22-07.00). Price also finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 14.09m (46-02.75). Laurent Dure won the men's high jump with a height of 1.95m (6-04.75).

The Bulls were also able to win four track events on the day. John McCarthy and Justin Van Epps swept first and second in the steeplechase with times of 9:20.92 and 9:30.58. Lloyd Webb and Frankie Pfeil ran the 10,000 meter run in 31:58.63 and 32:11.05 to place first and second.

Malayah White, Camaria Long, Asher Beasley, and Tyra Forbes earned first in the 4 x 100 meter relay by running the event in 47.21. Meagan Hopkins and Morgan Mahoney earned first and second place finishes in the 10,000 meter run with times of 36:20.51 and 36:44.95.

In addition to opening the 4 x 100 relay team White placed second in the 100 meter dash. She ran the event in 11.79, which is only .04 seconds off her school record time. Long finished the 200 meter dash in 24.59 to finish second overall.

Laura Libruk finished fourth in the steeplechase with a time of 11:54.44. Charlotte Molloy had a strong 5,000 meter performance with a second-place finish in a time of 18:04.93. Crystal Henderson ran the 100 meter hurdles in 14.51 to finish fifth and also earned a fourth-place finish in the triple jump. Doherty eared third in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.63 and jumped 6.88 m (22-7.00) in the long jump to place third. Treyvon Mask ran the 400 meter hurdles in 55.86 to place fourth overall.

Mikayla Pearce and Selina Von Jackowski placed second and third in the long jump with day-best distances of 5.93m (19-05.50) and 5.83m (19-01.50). Joanna Hallisy launched the shot put 12.97m (42-06.75) to place fourth overall. Taylor Woods continued to impress in the discus with a throw of 46.46m (152-05), which was the fourth-best throw overall.

Mitchell Fuller ran a season-best time of 10.93 in the 100 m dash to finish fourth overall. Joshua Gali narrowly lost in a photo finish to place second in the 200 m dash with a time of 21.73. Mitchell Moore finished fifth with a time of 22.01.

Craig Kaiser took second in the 1,500 m run as he finished the race in 3:57.05 as he battled for the lead during the event. Barrett Kemp and Andrew Berge continued their success in distance events at UB by placing third and fifth in the 5,000 m run. They finished in the event 14:41.24 and 15:13.67, respectively.

UB is back in action on April 16 when they compete at University of Connecticut in the Northeast Quad.
