Malayah White Breaks 60 Meter Dash School Record at Day 2 of MAC Championships

AKRON, OHIO - The UB men's and women's track and field teams completed Day 2 of the MAC Championships on Saturday. Buffalo won three gold medals and broke one school record as the men's team finished in fourth, while the women's team placed sixth overall.

Malayah White broke the 60 meter dash school record in a time of 7.44 to win the event. Darien Johnson won a gold medal in the men's 60 meter dash with a time of 6.74 in a photo finish. It's the first time that UB has won either 60 meter dash event at the MAC Championship.

For the seventh-straight MAC Championship (indoor or outdoor), the Bulls took home the gold in the men's shot put. This year Ryan Cribbin won with a throw of 18.12m (59-05.50). Devon Patterson placed fourth with his best attempt coming in at 17.85m (58-06.75). Megan Patterson won her second bronze medal of the MAC Championships with a season-best distance of 15.50m (50-10.25) in the shot put.

Brian Crimmins won the silver medal with a time 4:08.54 mile time. Tyler Scheving placed third and Thomas Meehan finished sixth in the 800 meter run with times of 1:49.82 and 1:52.52, respectively. In the women's 800 meter run Corinne Birchard placed eighth in her first MAC 800 meter run final of her career.

A day after running the school's second-best time in school history, Amy Shaw placed fourth in the 3,000 meter run with a big personal-best mark of 9:38.78.

Joshua Gali finished sixth in the 400 meter run with a personal-best mark of 47.51. Camaria Long and Johnson both placed seventh in the 200 meter run.

Austin Ashby jumped a personal-best distance of 14.97m (49-01.50) to place sixth in the triple jump. Christian Doherty finished the 60 meter hurdles in a season-best time of 8.20 to finish sixth overall. The men's 4x400 meter relay narrowly missed out on the school record with a time of 3:13.97 to finish fourth.

The men's high jump saw two Bulls finish in the top-eight. Laurent Dure and Hasani Rathan both cleared 2.02m (6-7.50).

The NCAA Division I final list of participants will be announced March 1st by 10:00pm Eastern Time via the NCAA website.

Their outdoor season kicks off at the Wake Forest Open on March 18 and 19.
