GENEVA, OHIO - For the second time in as many days and for the fourth straight week, a member of the UB men's and women's track and field teams broke a school record. On Satuday Tyler Scheving improved his then-current 800 meter run school record time (1:49.25) by finishing in 1:48.92. He finished second overall and was the top MAC finishers. Scheving's latest performance is currently ranked 23rd across all of Division 1.
In the men's shot put Davon Patterson earned a second-place finish with a big throw of 19.03m (62-05.50). Patterson's best attempt on the day is currently the 11th-best Division 1 mark and was more than a meter better than his career-best throw of 18.02m (59-01.50), which was hit last weekend at the Akron Invite.
Malayah White finished third in the women's 60 meter dash. Her time of 7.52 in the 60 meter dash was only .01 seconds off of tying her career-best and school record time of 7.51, which she set at the Penn State Invitational earlier this season. Darien Johnson ran 6.90 in the men's 60 meter dash finals to place fifth overall.
Christine Lyttle placed sixth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.59, while Christian Doherty placed seventh in the men's finals with a personal-best time of 8.25. JerMichael Bunch also qualified for the 10-lane finals event and finished in a time of 8.34 to earn eighth.
The Bulls are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Cornell University for the Deneault Invite. This will be the team's final tune-up before they compete at Akron for the MAC Championships from February 26-27.
