Three Bulls to Represent UB Track & Field at NCAA Championships

JACKSONVILLE, FL – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York men's and women's outdoor track & field teams completed competition at the NCAA East Preliminaries at North Florida's Hodges Stadium Saturday. The Bulls had two top-12 performances at the prelims and will send the same three to the national championships as they did in 2014.

Senior Jonathan Jones placed third in the men's shot put with a 19.95-meter toss on his second attempt to earn his third straight trip to the outdoor championships. The five-time all-American will attend his sixth-straight NCAA meet.

Jones will be joined by juniors Ryan Billian & Mike Morgan at Oregon. Billian clocked a ninth-place finish in the 100-meter dash quarterfinals Friday, while Morgan will compete in the decathlon. He has the 12th-best point performance in the nation this season with 7,538. The championships will take place June 10-13 in Eugene.

The Bulls' 4x100 team of senior Darien Johnson, sophomore Joshua Gali, junior Brian Cummiskey and Billian narrowly missed a trip to the west coast, finishing 14th out of 24 teams in 40.06. They placed fifth in their heat to finish with the second-fastest time in program history and their best of the season.

Two additional Bulls accompanied Jones in the shot put first round. Sophomore Ryan Cribbin finished 36th with a mark of 17.02 meters and freshman Devon Patterson added a throw of 16.35 meters to place 42nd.

Senior Emma Siuciak tied for 33rd place clearing 1.70 meters in the high jump on her second attempt.

At the NCAA Championships, the men's 100 semifinals will fire at 5:16 pm PT on Wednesday the 10th, while the men's shot put will commence moments later at 5:30 pm. The decathlon will span Wednesday and Thursday, beginning 11:30 am on the 10th and 10 am on the 11th.
