Billian is Oregon Bound, Bulls Compete on Day Two of NCAA East Prelims


JACKSONVILLE, FL – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York men's and women's outdoor track & field teams competed in four events Thursday at day one of the NCAA East Preliminaries at North Florida's Hodges Stadium.

Junior Ryan Billian raced to a ninth-place finish of 10.41 in the 100-meter dash to win his heat. With his finish, the school-record holder earned a trip to the NCAA Championships June 10-13 at Oregon. He becomes the first Bull in program history to compete in the event on the national stage. Billian returns to the meet for the second time after becoming an All-American at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Championships, placing 13th in the long jump.

Junior Camaria Long clocked to a time of 24.09 to place 41st in the 200 dash.

Junior Taylor Woods placed 28th out of 48 competitors in the women's discus with a toss of 47.75 meters. Sophomore Miranda Daucher followed with a mark of 43.67 meters to place 45th.

Junior Laurent Dure' represented the Bulls in the men's high jump, though was unsuccessful in clearing 1.99 meters.

The Bulls will conclude preliminary competition Saturday competing in three events. UB will have three throwing in the men's shot put first round at 5 pm, one representing the Blue & White in the women's high jump first round at 6 pm and UB will race in the quarterfinals of the men's 4x100 relay at 6:15 pm.
