Bulls Compete at Penn State’s Jim Thorpe Invite


STATE COLLEGE, PA – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York men's and women's track & field teams competed seven Friday at Penn State's Jim Thorpe Invitational.

The Bulls hit a trio of Mid-American Conference automatic qualifiers and won three events at the last chance meet.

Brian Crimmins raced after his school record time to win the 800-meter run in a MAC-qualifying 1:49.41. Tom Meehan followed in second with a 1:52.53 finish.

Kelly Truppo cleared 3.82 meters to place second in the pole vault and hit the MAC AQ. Taylor Bates followed in fifth place at 3.57 meters.

Taylor Woods hit a personal record to win the discus with a toss of 48.96 meters, good for the conference qualifier.

Mike Morgan competed in three events. He ran second in the 110 high hurdles in 14.58, placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.91 meters and had a 13.37-meter toss in the shot put.

Laurent Dure' won the high jump with a height of 1.93 meters.

The Bulls will next compete at the MAC Championships May 14-16 at Ball State.
